Beskrivelse

The Name
In January 2016, the Tesseron family became the owners of Villa Sorriso (Villa of Smiles), the former property of the actor Robin Williams.
The actor christened the vineyard with the middle names of his children “PYM” and “RAE”. Due to this touching story and in respect to the previous owners, the Tesserons have chosen to continue this name for the domain’s wine.
The Perpetual Quest for Balance…
We are in the hands of nature, with each cycle leading to the next: this is how we view our mission in the vineyard.
The vineyard cycle is gentle, and our team remains constant, unchanged from season to season.
Our association with the domain and its land is absolute.
A daily challenge is to constantly seek a balance in all we do.
The Terroir
It’s a natural “handmade” approach with the focus on the vineyard and winegrower, rather than cellar and winemaker. Although first developed at Pontet-Canet, adapting biodynamics to this new terroir has led to another approach and methodology of expressing the unique character of this place. From a common DNA two distinct and incomparable wines are born.
There is a long-term vision of vine and wine cultures. Each is intimately connected, part of the same whole: the cycles follow each other, never reaching an end. A philosophy arising from a natural cycle, its respect for everything is equally applicable to human society. It is a “humanist” biodynamic, intimate and humble approach, for a limited production wine destined to be enjoyed by a knowledgeable few. It is a reasoned and rigorous approach, validated by certification. It is synonymous with harmony and meticulous attention to detail.
The nature of the sedimentary limestone soil is key: it contributes depth and freshness when associated with a favorable climate. The style of wine we seek is elegant.
The Cellar
The wine is truly made in the vineyard.
The “handmade” approach in the vineyard continues in the cellar: allowing us to identify the potential of each parcel. From year one, this has enabled us to have time to learn to understand our vineyard. We have installed 40 concrete vats of 10 hectoliters each.
The objective? To achieve greater perfection, which will be needed when blending the wines.
Humility, patience, perseverance: it takes time to learn to understand the characteristics of the property and its terroir .
