Presqu’ile
(‘press-keel’) is a family-owned winery in the Santa Maria Valley dedicated to crafting exceptional, cool-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah from Santa Barbara County.
The Source
The Presqu’ile Vineyard is located just 16 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and is dedicated to 73 acres of vines, planted to Pinot Noir (39 acres), Chardonnay (13 acres), Sauvignon Blanc (6 acres), Syrah (6 acres), Gamay (5 acres), Nebbiolo (1.25 acres), and Aligoté (0.6 acres).
The vineyard is planted to three different types of rootstock, as well as own-rooted vines. Soaring elevations of 700 to 1,000 feet bring a diverse array of exposures to the vineyard, which adds to the uniqueness of the different blocks. Our vineyard is dominated by deep sandy soils, which retain heat and provide a well-draining environment for the vines to thrive.
